This section has obviously NOTHING to do with genealogy but ... it is good to relax from time to time !

I grouped the music int two categories: western-like and eastern-like. Please note that this is a pure personal taste and has no relation to authors, singers, sound ...

I am open to all criticisms, suggestions ... and even offenses. In any case ... switch on your loudspeakers, lean back, close your eyes and enjoy the music !

  • western sound

I know, this category of music DOES NOT exist. I am just using this expression as opposite to the oriental music which is much richer in mid-sounds end harmonic series. To the "westerner" this is totally unusual and "strange" yet it is becoming more and more played in the countries of West European tradition owing to multi-ethnical integration.

For those who are not used to this music, please listen to it not only once. Try to taste it without prejudice and with open mind ... letting it carry you in its sometimes hypnotic and magical athmosphere.

But if you are not in the mood ... remain here and enjoy this section !

  • oriental sound

Oriental sound, mostly from Greece and Asia-Minor. Among this music the Rebetiko.

Greek ρεμπέτικο, occasionally transliterated as Rembetiko, this is a term used today to designate originally disparate kinds of urban Greek folk music which have come to be grouped together since the so-called rebetika revival, which started in the 1960s and developed further from the early 1970s onwards.

The genre embodies a synthesis, in varying proportions, of elements of European music, the folk music of mainland Greece and the Greek islands, Greek ecclesiastical music, and the modal traditions of Ottoman music.

As I said in the "western sound" section, for those who are not used to this music, please listen to it not only once. Try to taste it without prejudice and with open mind ... letting it carry you in its sometimes hypnotic and magical athmosphere.
